The Location Innovation Hub promotes the creation of location-based ecosystems and data spaces in Europe. Our vision is to enable and support the development of data spaces in our key target sectors. The key aspect from our perspective is to enable the use of reference location data within these data spaces.
Businesses can take the next steps in addressing challenges such as climate change and urbanisation by using data spaces enabled by reference location. Therefore, location plays a crucial role in the development of data spaces.
Currently, the European Union has started to create these common data spaces in various sectors. We have proposed a Location Data Space that would enable the use of high value datasets in these sectoral data spaces.
- A data space is a set of agreed principles and rules for sharing and exchanging data within or between different sectors. Read more about data spaces from dssc.eu.

General Location Data Space Pilot - Location Europe
Location Europe is a platform that provides harmonised location data from different countries across Europe. Location Europe is creating a general location reference data space by integrating and providing easy access to geospatial, climate and statistical datasets from several European countries, supporting innovation and the development of new services and tools.

Test Infrastructure for Data Integration - Location Finland
Location Finland will go beyond Location Europe and integrate data useful for certain identified use cases in our domain areas within Location Innovation Hub. The selected domain areas are built environment, agriculture and food, Forestry, Transportation, Health and well-being. We will try to provide existing data, combine them and publish an API for easy usage.

Agricultural Data Space Demo Environment
Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) researches and tests solutions for the digitalisation of agriculture and develops the agricultural data space. Luke provides a data sharing demo service that is used to test services in the agricultural data space and to demonstrate data licensing and service delivery. Luke is one of the partners in the Location Innovation Hub.
