19.01.2024Data and AI in search of forest biodiversity – join the Beyond Dead Wood hackathon!
Loss of biodiversity in nature, and more specifically in the world’s forests, is a major threat to life on Earth that is now widely recognized.
How to identify and validate such rare and ecologically valuable forests? Beyond Dead Wood is a three-day hackathon (7-9 March 2024) where you will set up a controlled comparison example, and provide an introduction and data to both forest ecology, GenAI, and remote sensing to serve as the criteria for a hackathon effort.
Successful solutions will contribute to a paradigm shift in biodiversity conservation, offering a scalable and reliable method to identify, validate, and preserve ecologically valuable forests. The winning solutions may have the potential to reshape industry practices, reconcile conservation efforts with economic interests, and create a sustainable future for our planet.
The hackathon is organised by Ultrahack. Location Innovation Hub is one of the partners of the hackathon, together with Business Finland, Geoforum Finland, Arbonaut and Metsäteho.
