02.11.2023The Location Innovation Hub is ready for action
The first half of this year was spent launching the Location Innovation Hub and mobilizing the partner network. Since the summer, things have really got underway, and we are now ready to provide services to businesses and public administrations.
The Location Innovation Hub coaches start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises and public administration organisations that want to develop their business using location data and state-of-the-art technology.
“Interest in our activities has been high. We have had discussions with partners in the technology industry, export and trade promotion organisations and others. Other European innovation hubs are also actively engaged and we share ideas on common opportunities. For example, EDIH in Liechtenstein has developed interesting solutions for ecosystem management using blockchains," says Project Manager Antti Jakobsson.
Customers are interested in precise positioning
Organisation can become a customer by contacting Location Innovation Hub via the website or by email. The Hub has organised and participated in many events, where contacts with customers are made.
“For many potential customers, location information is something like a map on their phone, which doesn't really inspire innovation. That's why we don't primarily present the possibilities of location data, but rather ask what kind of development needs different customer groups have and consider whether location data and technological solutions could potentially improve business," says Joonas Jokela, responsible for networks and customer relations.
Customers don't need to know anything about the industry. They will get a suggestion of activities and support, tailored to their needs. There are test platforms, consulting and training opportunities for a wide range of needs.
“The customers who have now joined our activities are particularly interested in solutions for precise positioning. The Finnish Geospatial Research Institute FGI and the partner network has a real heavy-duty expertise, so we can meet even quite complex needs," says Jokela.
An active autumn ahead
During the autumn, we will be actively campaigning for different customer groups, publishing a wide range of media content and meeting people from different sectors at events.
“We will organise a seminar on the future of precise positioning at the Geoforum Summit, where we are looking for companies from outside the geospatial sector to attend. Geomob Oulu will take place in November, and we look forward to meeting with companies in the region," says Joonas Jokela.
