03.05.2024Skyfora - making weather forecasts more accurate in a changing environment
Skyfora is an innovative Finnish company that produces weather instruments, weather measurement methods and weather forecasts. Skyfora employs 15 people with expertise in areas such as atmospheric science, machine learning and weather instrument design.
The Location Innovation Hub provided Skyfora with technical consultancy and test environments.
Svante Henriksson, Co-Founder, CPO:
"The collaboration with the Location Innovation Hub has focused on the use of satellite positioning for weather forecasting. GPS and more generally GNSS signal delays through the atmosphere can be used in a variety of weather measurement applications. One of the things we received help with was the most accurate possible processing of the position signal data.
Through the Location Innovation Hub, we received a wealth of help and expertise from researchers at the The Finnish Geospatial Research Institute. We now have a better understanding of the capabilities and also the shortcomings of the GNSS software we use. We have gained a good overview of the direction our company's GNSS weather measurement technology should take, and the value of the help we have received is great.
The Location Innovation Hub is a really good programme and works better than other similar support programmes we have seen. The help was professional and focused on solving the technical problems that were important to us. There wasn't any extra bureaucracy or unnecessary meetings.”
