Data spaces create opportunities for companies to accelerate growth and innovation, secure access to critical resources and enable the sale and sharing of data between multiple actors. Data space technologies are also important enablers for the development of artificial intelligence solutions.

The new collaborative network Data Spaces Alliance Finland was launched by Sitra on 10 April 2024 at the Nordic Data Festival 2024.  The network brings together Finnish pioneers in the data business and provides its members with a unified view on the development of cross-organisational solutions.    

Unlocking the potential of data spaces

Members of the Alliance are organisations that are key partners in Finnish data space projects and organisations that enable Finnish data space projects through funding and resources. The target group of the alliance are companies and organisations that use or could use data spaces data in their business. The alliance offers support for growth and learning together and provides an efficient way to connect to pan-European networks.

“European data spaces are now being built and location data will play a big role. At the Location Innovation Hub, our vision is to develop data spaces that provide opportunities for businesses to tackle challenges such as climate change and urbanisation. With the help of data spaces, we can drive innovation, competitiveness and sustainable growth," says Antti Jakobsson, Project Manager of the Location Innovation Hub.

The National Land Survey of Finland is one of the 22 founding members of the Alliance. The NLS participates in the Alliance through the Location Innovation Hub.
