03.07.2023Enhance your GIS skills: Esri offers free MOOC courses
Esri provides three free MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) online courses during fall 2023. Courses are aimed for anyone who wants to build new skills, grow professionally, and expand their horizons. These six-week courses can be completed at one’s own pace. Estimated workload is 2–3 hours per week.
“Have fun, explore a new topic, get hands-on practice with the latest ArcGIS software, and earn a certificate of completion”, encourages Sinna Andstén and Hanne Lindqvist from Esri Finland.
MOOC courses deal with different themes:
- Spatial Data Science: The New Frontier in Analytics. In this course, you will learn how spatial data can complement traditional data science methods and study the latest methods of machine learning and artificial intelligence from the perspective of spatial data.
- Imagery in Action. In this course, you will learn more about different types of imagery, how they are used and how to integrate images with GIS systems.
- GIS for Climate Action. Climate change requires solutions to complex and global challenges. There will be an increasing demand for flexibility from communities, systems and infrastructure in the future. In the course you will learn how GIS systems can be used to find solutions to challenges.
”MOOC courses are open and free of charge for everyone. While you can participate in the courses without prior experience in the field of spatial data or location business, GIS professionals and students are sure to get new ideas and perspectives on their work”, promises Andstén and Lindqvist.
Students of MOOC courses will use ArcGIS software. Esri provides access to all necessary software for the registered students during the course.
