The Location Innovation Hub has published a free API Business Manual to help small and medium sized businesses navigate the complexities of building API-based business solutions.

Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) play a key role in facilitating the exchange of data and services between different systems and platforms. Organisations are increasingly using geospatial data to improve their operations and offerings, making it important to understand the nuances of API usage.

The API Business Manual serves as a guide for geospatial APIs, whether you're new to APIs and eager to learn the fundamentals or already familiar and aiming to elevate your understanding. The manual explores various topics related to geospatial APIs including licences, legal rights, ethical considerations and information security. From an overview of the OGC API family to insights into ISO/IEC-27001 security compliance and emerging technologies like 5G, people across industries can gain valuable insights.

The API Business Manual has been developed with the participation of several Location Innovation Hub partner organisations and experts from different sectors. The manual will be updated in the future based on the feedback received.
